The owners have warm childhood memories of family summers spent at the beach, and wanted to create a similar environment in which to spend summers with their growing children. They also wanted a home suitable for entertaining in an elegant, yet understated, atmosphere.

The exterior of the home features classic beach house styling with weathered gray shingle siding and white trim. The family can watch the sun rise along the ocean side through strategically-placed Pella sliding doors and windows.

The interior displays stunning attention to detail, with softly-finished pine paneling and trim and hand-carved seashell cornerblocks which adorn the door and window trims. Extensive use of tile floors adds a cooling element.

The warm, traditional layout visually unifies the living room, kitchen and den on the main level, with lavish master and children's bedrooms on the second level. The third floor includes a spacious and stylish guest room which dovetails the private dormitory carved out of the attic space.
